Growing for gold

And it came to pass, that in those days when everyone was up at the lake or gathered around tables of boisterous laughter…..Steve and Judy shucked, boiled, chopped and fruzzed mountains of sweet corn. We are stocking up for the winter and for the folks who will munch along with us. Our second corn harvest was tastier than the first one – we plan to stick with High Mowing Seeds for the coming year and NOT plant so many beds! I can grumble a lot about such matters 😉

New equipment keeps arriving. Yay! Steve anchored on the shelving for the center kitchen tables so we cooks can waltz around and be more efficient. The other cooks might need to grow a few inches to reach the top shelf….

Farm share members will now choose their produce from out of our new retail coolers. It will not be as beautiful as when all the produce was arranged on tables. We have come a long way from the days of styrofoam coolers in our garage – oh my! The new system (hide & seek) will provide more space, keep the veggies in good shape and cut down on our time to organize everything.

And so…..carrots, beets, cantaloupes, sweet peppers, summer squash, the last cucumbers, garlic, potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, and herbs will fill the bags and boxes of farm share members this week.

Choose to be healthy and wise…..I’m not sure about the wealthy part.
